One Dark Night was one of my very favorite books when I was about 5 years old. The book in the video is my original copy that I had growing up. No longer in print, the books are still available through secondary markets on Amazon and eBay. Softcover copies are usually available for about $10-$20.
The story takes us with a group of friends who go out trick or treating one night. One follows another until they find themselves sneaking down the road. Then they hear a scary noise! They trip and stumble over each other running all the way home in their fright, slamming their doors behind them. But what made the scary noise? Nothing but a cute little mouse running down the road “one dark night.”
Admittedly, there isn’t much of a plot, but it delighted me when I was little.
