DIY Wax Paper Leaf Suncatchers

This is a really simple activity that preserves the leaves for a little longer. We added it to the leaf unit of our studies in My Father’s World.

You will need:

1. Set your iron to cotton setting.

2. Lay one of the kitchen towels out, then lay a sheet of wax paper on top.

3. Arrange the leaves as desired to make a pretty pattern. If using the shavings, sprinkle them over the top.

4. Carefully lay a second piece of wax paper over the leaves.

5. Lay the other towel on top and iron the leaf “sandwich” together*

* I use a little travel iron and often get impatient, so I remove the top towel and just iron straight onto the wax paper and haven’t ever had an issue. I like doing it that way because it gives me more control ensuring that all of the little nooks and crannies around the leaves are sealed.
