6 Weeks – Gender Testing with Chromosome Testing without Amnio

Now we’re past the 6 week mark. I’m not sure if the morning sickness (which for me is evening, not morning) is getting worse or if I’m just wearing down. It’s not violent or frequently vomitting, just a worn down sick feeling that makes me not really want to do anything other than rest.

At the end of this week I’m planning on making an appointment so that we can check for a heartbeat in week 7.

As of this week, the baby should be about the size of a grain of rice.

Chromosome Testing

I’ve been reading about a blood test that can determine the baby’s gender as well as testing for chromosome issues. The test can be taken at 10 weeks. Here are two good articles about it:

There is also more details in the 10 Weeks article here.

Some people argue that the tests for gender aren’t 100% accurate. However, I’m digging the idea of being able to test for chromosome issues without having to do amnio.

Emotionally: I mentioned earlier that I have reserved my excitement for actually hearing the heartbeat. At this point, what I feel the most is nervousness. I’m scared quite a bit, actually.

On another note, at the end of this week I’m buying a ton of nutritious food and no junk. I probably should have been doing that before this.

“This Week’s Symptoms”

  • Ghost cramps (a little stronger, they wake me up at night sometimes but don’t last 24/7)
  • Frequent exhaustion
  • More frequent morning sickness
  • Acne – crazy acne like I’ve never had before – a complete breakout
  • Tender breasts
  • Excessive salivation
  • Cravings for Stouffers Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes (still, it’s one of the few things that doesn’t make me nauseated for some reason)
